THREAD Privacy Policy

Application: THREAD (com.ducnguyen.thread) · Developer: Barebyte · Platform: Android

Effective 22 October 2026 (version 0.2.0). Earlier version: 16 October 2026.

The short version. THREAD is an offline arcade game. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal information with Barebyte or with anyone else. The released build does not request Android's INTERNET permission, so it has no way to send anything anywhere itself.

What data we access, collect, use and share

None. Barebyte does not access, collect, use, sell or share any personal information through THREAD. There is no account system, no sign-in, no user profile, no advertising identifier, no advertising, no analytics, no attribution SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no in-app purchases and no server of any kind.

The released build is compiled without the INTERNET permission. That is a property of the application package itself: the operating system will not let THREAD open a network connection.

What THREAD stores

A few small settings, on your device: your best score, whether sound is on, your steering sensitivity (Low, Normal or High), and which of the game's short tips you have already seen, so they are not repeated. They are kept in the app's private storage (Android's app preferences). They contain nothing about you — no name, no identifier, no time — and THREAD never sends them anywhere.

If you have turned on Android's own device backup, Android may include the app's private storage in that backup, under your Google account's settings and Google's privacy policy. Barebyte has no access to it. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app deletes it from your device.

Update check through Google Play

When THREAD starts or returns from the background, it asks the Google Play Store app on your device whether a newer version of THREAD is waiting, using Google Play's in-app update library; if one is, Google Play shows its own update screen. THREAD sends nothing of its own in this request and receives only whether an update is available. Google describes what the Play Store handles for this — device metadata, the app's version and installed modules, used to decide whether an update is available — on its in-app updates page; Google processes it under Google's own terms and privacy policy. Barebyte receives none of it.

Permissions

THREAD requests no permission. The application package carries one self-scoped permission generated by the Android build tools for the app's own internal message passing; it grants nothing to any other app and nothing to us.

Retention and deletion

Because Barebyte holds no data about you, there is no account, server-side profile or backup of yours for us to delete, and no deletion request to make of us. Uninstalling THREAD removes it and its app-private files, including the stored best score and settings, from your device.

Security

There is nothing to breach: no server, no account database, no credentials, no transmission by THREAD.

Children

THREAD does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because it collects no personal information at all. Its target audience and content rating are declared in Google Play Console by the developer account owner and shown on the store listing.

Google Play

You install THREAD through Google Play, which processes data under Google's own privacy policy as part of providing its store and testing programmes. Barebyte receives from Google only the aggregate statistics and voluntary feedback that Google Play Console provides to every developer.

This website

These pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may process ordinary web-request metadata, such as your IP address and user agent, for delivery and security, under GitHub's own practices. THREAD itself does not open this page and sends nothing to Barebyte or to GitHub. These pages set no cookies and load no analytics or third-party scripts, fonts or images.

Changes to this policy

If THREAD's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated before a build carrying the changed practice is released, and the effective date above will change with it.
