RIPPLE Privacy Policy
The short version. RIPPLE is an offline puzzle game. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal information with Barebyte or with anyone else. The released build does not request Android's INTERNET permission, so it has no way to send anything anywhere.
What data we access, collect, use and share
None. Barebyte does not access, collect, use, sell or share any personal information through RIPPLE. There is no account system, no sign-in, no user profile, no advertising identifier, no advertising, no analytics, no attribution SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no in-app purchases and no server of any kind.
The released build is compiled without the INTERNET permission. That is a property of the application package itself: the operating system will not let RIPPLE open a network connection.
The update check
From version 0.2.0, when RIPPLE starts or comes back to the screen it asks the Google Play Store app on your phone whether a newer version of RIPPLE is waiting, using Google's in-app update library, and if one is, shows Google Play's own update screen. RIPPLE itself still opens no network connection and has no INTERNET permission: the question goes to the Play Store app, which handles it under Google's privacy policy. RIPPLE receives back only whether an update is available and its version number, keeps nothing, and sends nothing to Barebyte.
What RIPPLE stores
Your progress, on your device, and nothing about you. From version 0.3.0 RIPPLE remembers where you are in the game, so a relaunch does not start over: whether you have finished or skipped the tutorial, the level you last opened, the furthest level you have opened, and which levels you have solved, each named by the level's own id. From version 0.4.0 it also remembers your two sound settings (sound effects on or off, music on or off). That is all it saves. It holds no name, no identifier of you or your device and no time, and it is kept in the app's private storage (Android's app preferences). RIPPLE never sends it anywhere: it has no way to.
If you have turned on Android's own device backup, Android may include the app's private storage in that backup, under your Google account's settings and Google's privacy policy. Barebyte has no access to it. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app deletes it from your device.
Permissions
RIPPLE requests no permission. The application package carries one self-scoped permission generated by the Android build tools for the app's own internal message passing; it grants nothing to any other app and nothing to us.
Retention and deletion
Because Barebyte holds no data about you, there is no account, server-side profile or backup of yours for us to delete, and no deletion request to make of us. Uninstalling RIPPLE removes it and its app-private files, including the saved progress, from your device.
Security
There is nothing to breach: no server, no account database, no credentials, no transmission.
Children
RIPPLE does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because it collects no personal information at all. Its target audience and content rating are declared in Google Play Console by the developer account owner and shown on the store listing.
Google Play
You install RIPPLE through Google Play, which processes data under Google's own privacy policy as part of providing its store and testing programmes. Barebyte receives from Google only the aggregate statistics and voluntary feedback that Google Play Console provides to every developer.
This website
These pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may process ordinary web-request metadata, such as your IP address and user agent, for delivery and security, under GitHub's own practices. RIPPLE itself does not open this page and sends nothing to Barebyte or to GitHub. These pages set no cookies and load no analytics or third-party scripts, fonts or images.
Changes to this policy
If RIPPLE's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated before a build carrying the changed practice is released, and the effective date above will change with it.
